Real Time Intraoperative Functional Brain Mapping Based on RGB Imaging

چکیده
Intraoperative optical imaging is a localization technique for the functional areas of human brain cortex during neurosurgical procedures. However, it still lacks robustness to be used as clinical standard. In particular new biomarkers functionality with improved sensitivity and specificity are needed. We present method real time identification activated cortical based on analysis hemodynamic using RGB camera white light source. measure quantitative oxy deoxy-hemoglobin concentration changes in modified Beer-Lambert law Monte Carlo simulations. A model has been implemented define binary biomarker activation following neuronal by physiological stimuli. The results show good correlation between computed maps localized electrical stimulation. demonstrate that combined modeling hemodynamics can evaluate neurosurgery serve tool choice complement

Intraoperative Human Functional Brain Mapping Using Optical Intrinsic Signal Imaging
Functional brain mapping strives to describe the brain’s organization as a mosaic of distinct regions, each of which subserves a particular function. Advances in our understanding of functional brain organization over the past decades have been propelled by the availability of increasingly sophisticated methods for assessing various aspects of neuronal activity in vivo. These methods can be bro...
متن کاملReal-time functional brain mapping using electrocorticography
We demonstrate the feasibility of real-time cortical mapping from arrays of subdural electrodes using the electrocorticographic signal power in the higher spectral frequencies (76-200 Hz, or "chi-index"). Hand area was mapped offline in eight individuals using brief baseline and hand-movement measurements. In one patient, hand sensorimotor cortex was identified online during a handshake. We pro...
متن کاملTime domain functional NIRS imaging for human brain mapping
This review is aimed at presenting the state-of-the-art of time domain (TD) functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). We first introduce the physical principles, the basics of modeling and data analysis. Basic instrumentation components (light sources, detection techniques, and delivery and collection systems) of a TD fNIRS system are described. A survey of past, existing and next generati...
متن کاملConcordance between functional magnetic resonance imaging and intraoperative language mapping.
Although the correspondence between functional-magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) representations of the sensorimotor cortex and intraoperative electrophysiology (including somatosensory evoked potential, SSEP, recordings and direct cortical stimulation) has been reported, a similar correspondence between fMRI and intraoperative localization of the language-sensitive cortex is not as well establ...
متن کاملLaser Doppler imaging for intraoperative human brain mapping
The identification and accurate location of centers of brain activity are vital both in neuro-surgery and brain research. This study aimed to provide a non-invasive, non-contact, accurate, rapid and user-friendly means of producing functional images intraoperatively. To this end a full field Laser Doppler imager was developed and integrated within the surgical microscope and perfusion images of...
